KSA CATS (Saudi Arabia)

EMRO is working in conjunction with Saudi Arabia (KSA) PAWS, a grassroots group in the East Gulf dedicated to helping the abandoned and orphaned tame cats, dogs, birds and other animals needing new homes, especially when those ex-pats leave and cannot take their pet with them.

In some cases we come across Maus, Mau mixes and Orientals that need rehoming and we will post these in this page.

The Founders of EMRO currently travel between Cairo and KSA and can act either as pet escorts between these two locations, or keep interested adopters aware of potential pet options from this often hard-to-reach corner of the globe. Pet escorts can be occasionally obtained to Europe and America as there is a thriving foreign expat community here. Pet preparation for travel is similar to that from Cairo. Most are neutered/spayed already by PAWS but the adopter would have to pay for vaccines and other travel costs. Usually need a minimum of 30 days to travel while pet escort sought.

Note: Maus from Saudi Arabia are often interbred with local Orientals, creating what we believe to be a sub group of native Maus we call Oriental Maus.

Following are some of the animals currently available to adopt.

Adopted: JAFFAR (Dammam, KSA, Jan 08); LEANDER (Jubail, KSA in May 08); JARIR, ATIYA (Germany via Cairo Aug 08), Jadeed (Texas June 08), Saleem & Stanley (Al Khobar, summer 08 KSA), Sammi (Cairo, fall 08), Leo (Jubail, KSA, Nov 08)!

In a Saudi compound. DOB: spring 07, neutered. Somewhat vocal cat. May be too feral to adopt unless very patient! Good for sponsorship!

Jemma Jemma2 JEMMA

Jemma: Bronze Classic Mau/Oriental mix This 2-3 year old former mother is looking for her own forever home. She has had kittens go overseas (two went to America over a year ago to a happy new home). Mouse Mouse2 MOUSE

Purrl Puurl2 PURRL

(Puurl Sponosred by Gail, DC, USA)

Mouse and Purrl: These bronze Mau/Oriental mix twins were littermates and born in the outdoor cupboard of the guesthouse on a compound in KSA. Originally from a litter of 5 (one died from a deformed leg, and two others remain feral in the compound). They tamed up and are able to be handled and enjoy being petted, Puurl normally jumps up to the hand to ensure she gets petted while Mouse is a little quieter. Prefer to adopt together. We are trying to find a temporary home until she can find a real home elsewhere. Note: best to find a home directly from KSA to USA if possible, although arrangements can be made to bring the cat to EMRO in Cairo if necessary in December (if she can be housed until then) and a home sought from there, if space permits.
